The wisdom of drawing David in emotionally was the key. Nathan undoubtedly could have imparted the information to David in a more concise manner. He also could have spoken with him in a more confrontational manner. He certainly could have told him in a more concrete manner. Yet he spoke first to his heart in order to get the information through to his head. Making the emotional connection with David was instrumental in getting David to act on Nathan’s rebuke rather than just to hear it.
